about allison

With a decade of experience in UX research and strategy, I'm dedicated to crafting solutions that prioritize inclusivity and accessibility.

My career has led me to specialize in starting research departments from scratch, where I blend qualitative insights with quantitative data to develop results-focused recommendations. I'm skilled in employing a range of cost-effective research methods, such as usability tests, site visits, surveys and interviews, all aimed at advancing universal design principles.

With a design background, I have interaction design knowledge to prepare prototypes for testing.

My experience is rooted in my role at Hightail, where I was presented with the unique challenge of founding an in-house user research lab from the ground up. At Hightail, I became adept at quickly running a variety of both formative and evaluative research studies, from concept to completion.

Since Hightail, my clients have included AutodeskVulcan for User Lens, and EcoRebates.

For over five years I led qualitative research for Autodesk's new cloud-based 3D modeling software, Fusion 360.

Most recently I started a user research practice at one of the country’s top telemedicine companies, Doctor On Demand. In October 2021, DOD merged with Grand Rounds Health to become Included Health, and I became a UX Research Manager.

As a design researcher, my job is to uncover insights about human behavior that will inform design innovation. In particular, I’m interested in the researcher’s role in cognitive design – the topic of my graduate thesis.

From preliminary interviewing to prototype testing, understanding the user’s experience is always at the forefront of my design thinking.

In May 2013, I graduated from the MFA Design program at California College of the Arts.

In addition to a Master of Fine Arts degree, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literary Arts from Brown University, and an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from New York University.

My studies also include graphic design at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City, film at The New York Film Academy at Princeton University, and analog photography at the University of Richmond in London.

In 2023, I earned a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) credential from IAAP to better support other users with disabilities.

Outside of the office, you can find me at the dog park with my beagle mix dog, Laila, or painting sketches like these for fun :)

An active networker, I love to connect with anyone looking to design meaningful user experiences. Whether you’re a UX researcher available for a casual chat, or a product leader interested in collaborating, you are welcome to contact me.

Thank you for visiting! I look forward to hearing from you.
